DTS Water Spray Retort: Ensuring the Safety and Quality of Pouched Pet Food

For pouched pet food, proper sterilization is essential to ensure product safety and maintain quality, which is a crucial aspect of the production process. The DTS Water Spray Retort meets this need with a sterilization process specifically designed for these products.

Begin by loading the pouched pet food requiring sterilization into the autoclave and then close the door. Depending on the required filling temperature for the food, process water at a predetermined temperature is pumped in from the hot water tank. The autoclave fills with water until it reaches the level specified by the process. Some additional water may also enter the spray pipe via the heat exchanger, preparing for the subsequent steps.

Heating sterilization is a pivotal part of the process. The circulation pump moves process water through one side of the heat exchanger and sprays it out, while steam enters the other side to heat the water to the appropriate temperature for the pet food. A film valve adjusts the steam to maintain a stable temperature—vital for preserving the food's nutrients and flavor. The hot water turns into mist, coating every part of the pouched food to ensure uniform sterilization. Temperature sensors and PID functions work together to control fluctuations, guaranteeing the precision required.

Upon completion of sterilization, steam ceases to flow. Open the cold water valve, and cooling water rushes into the other side of the heat exchanger. This cools down both the process water and the pouched food inside the autoclave, helping to preserve their freshness and quality.

Drain any remaining water, release pressure through the exhaust valve, and the sterilization process for the pouched pet food is complete.

The DTS Water Spray Retort is compatible with the high-temperature packaging used for pouched pet food, such as plastic and soft pouches. It plays a significant role in the pet food industry by providing sterilization that helps products meet safety and quality standards. For pet owners, this is a noteworthy benefit.
